How do I remove Gasoline / Kerosene Spills on auto carpet and upholstery?

Gasoline / Kerosene Spills on auto carpet and upholstery

What has occurred is that the petroleum has gotten into the open cell urethane foam & carpet padding and is fermenting and out - gassing.

You must get enough Odor kill solution into the foam padding and carpet so that it can digest the residual organic petroleum molecules.

Mix it 10 parts water and 1 part odor kill in a clean spray bottle. Generously spray and / or pour the solution on the upholstery and carpet so that it gets into it completely -- top, under / bottom. If possible, try to pull the carpet up so that you can get to the underside.

Saturate it heavily, place a wet towel, soaked in the Odorkill solution under the carpet spot, and lay the carpet back down on it. Leave it there for at least 8-12 hours.

Also put a damp towel soaked in the odor kill solution over the topside of the carpet area for 8-12 hours.

Take it up and check for odor. Reapply if necessary. You will need to perform this treatment 4-5 times, over about 4-5 days. It will get better each treatment, so, keep doing this until the mal odor and stains are gone. The amount of time required to digest the petroleum will depend on the amount of petroleum that was spilled.

The enzyme solution is working when it has moisture. It stops working when it dries. Then let the area completely dry. You may have to use a fan to remove any moisture. If, it does not completely dry it will mildew will grow in the damp areas. (A new treatment of the solution of Odor Kill will also kill the mold and mildew.)

How do I remove Gasoline Spill on Ground and Mal Odors in the House?

Gasoline Spill on Ground and Mal Odors in the House ATX’s does remove gasoline and other hydrocarbons, and all other organic matter. It is water based.

It will take several treatments for the enzymes to digest the gasoline in the soil.

Basically, the ATX’s solution rapidly speeds up nature’s decomposition process. I suggest that you first dig up as much soil as possible from the contaminated site.

Spread it out on the ground. This gets as much of the source as possible. Treat this soil with ATX’s. 10 parts water and 1 part ATX’s. Then, I suggest that you mix it with 5 parts of water and 1 part of ATX’s. Pour it in the same spot where you spilt the gasoline.

The liquid should follow the same route and digest the gas molecules. The area needs to stay moist. I would saturate the area with the solution.

It may take a few treatments and a few days for the enzymes to work, depending on the mass of gasoline it has to digest. Be patient and keep treating it every day. Use your nose and determine on a scale of 1 to 10 the severity of the mal odors.

Then, check it each day and determine how much it has been reduced. Trust this info helps.

How do I remove Gasoline Spilled on Coat?

Gasoline Spilled on Coat Thanks for your email. Yes, Odor Kill will remove the gasoline from the coat. First, be sure that it is colorfast and water will not damage the coat since Odor Kill is a water based enzyme product. Mix 1 part water and 5 parts Odor Kill saturate the area where the gasoline spilled on the coat.

Then take a warm damp cloth and cover the area for a few hours. Then check the area for gasoline odor. If it is still present, then retreat. It may take a few treatments.

Then let it dry. Check it again. Repeat until the gasoline has been completely digested by the Odor Kill solution. The more gasoline contamination on the clothing or other area requires more Odor Kill enzymes to digest the fuel.

They can only work so fast. The key is to get the Odor Kill solution in contact with the gasoline. Odor kill acts like little "pacmen" which attack and digest the organic matter.

They work in the presence of food, organic matter- gasoline, and water.

When the area dries the enzymes die and stop working. ******************************************************
